Meet Our Team
At Anchoring Within, our team is made up of compassionate, skilled professionals dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for healing. We believe that therapy should be affirming, accessible, and tailored to each person’s unique journey. No matter what brings you here, our therapists are ready to support you with warmth, expertise, and understanding.
Hi, I’m Theresa! Helping others has always been at the heart of what I do. With over 15 years of experience in marriage and family therapy, I’ve dedicated my career to creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing and growth.
My journey began at the University of Central Florida, where I studied Psychology and developed a passion for advocacy, working with organizations supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, military families, and women’s rights. I went on to earn my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University, gaining hands-on experience with agencies like Women In Distress and Fort Lauderdale Psychiatric Hospital. These opportunities deepened my focus on areas such as domestic violence, parenting challenges, and reunification therapy.
Life brought me to Spartanburg, SC, where I founded Anchoring Within in 2018 to provide compassionate, affirming therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Today, I continue to approach each client’s journey with empathy, understanding, and the belief that healing is always possible.
When I’m not working, I’m likely spending time with loved ones, advocating for inclusivity, or enjoying the little joys in life. I look forward to supporting you on your path to growth and connection!

Asking for help can be difficult. It takes courage to reach out to others, especially when you’re not sure where to turn. This can be especially true if you’ve felt unsafe to do so, before. That’s why it’s important to me to make you feel welcomed and safe from the start of your very first appointment with me. I want to help you through the challenges you face. I will work to get to know you, your relationship(s), or your family in order to help you reach your goals.
Everyone is unique, and I believe that valuing and promoting a person’s individuality is key in long-term success and growth. I focus on intersectionality, honoring who you are in my therapeutic process. I specialize in providing LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, and I strive to provide compassionate care to people who are transgender or gender nonconforming.
Because every person is one-of-a-kind, I modify my therapy style to suit your specific needs, focusing on addressing your concerns in whatever way is most appropriate for you. I aim to make sure that you feel heard and understood, and that you are treated with the dignity and respect that you deserve. I look forward to meeting you.

I have a passion for working with teens and young adults that are working through their journey of self-discovery. Whether that means you’re trying to find your place in the LGBTQ+ community or trying to figure out career plans and goals for your life.
I am here to help you gain clarity and insight out of what can be very overwhelming emotions.I am here to walk with you in your journey. Together we can sort through and heal the traumas you might not have realized are lying below the surface and are impacting your daily life. Maybe that means that you’ve been lashing out at the people closest to you and you don’t know why. Maybe you’ve been feeling numb and don’t know why or how to fix it.
My therapy style is affirming and adaptive to my client’s needs. Therapy is a hard process but I am committed to being with you each step of the way. We will walk through your healing journey without judgment and we will care for your inner child along the way. Therapy takes time and we will take it at the speed that is comfortable for you.

Hello! In terms of my background, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Musical Theatre from Converse College (now University) in 2019. From there, I immediately began Converse’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, during which I was recognized for my work to increase equity in mental health services for the LGBTQ+ population in 2021.
My passion lies primarily in the neuroqueer population, but I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients from all backgrounds. As far as working with adults goes, I am kink positive and polyamory/ENM affirming.
I like to pull from a lot of different models, because I’ve found that no single model works for everyone. I work a lot with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Schema Therapy, and Attachment Theory, among others. Whether you’re coming in alone or with your partner(s), I believe that a systemic approach helps my clients better understand themselves and their environment.
When working with neurodivergent clients, my primary goal is to help you improve your quality of life. Many people believe that this means helping you appear neurotypical, but that could not be further from the truth. I am of the belief that you should never shrink yourself, especially for the benefit of others. Being autistic myself, I try my best to lead by example. Building self advocacy and learning your sensory needs are far more important to me than helping you be more palatable to others.
